Phosphor copper is generally produced in three levels of phosphor content – 8, 10 and 15% – to standard specifications (JIS, ASTM, DIN, European), but we can also manufacture to individual requirements. The material comes in different forms – waffle plate, shot (granules), tablets and 8mm x 1m sticks.

What is phosphor copper?
A deoxidant widely used in the copper industry and for certain aluminium alloy applications. Phosphor copper is used mainly for copper-based casting alloys, copper refining, copper tube production and the manufacture of brazing rods.
Phosphorus is used as a reactive element due to its high affinity with oxygen, yet remains stable whilst in alloy form. Production is complex for many reasons: the changing melting points of the alloy as the phosphorus level changes, the environmental controls required, and the need for a uniform phosphorus content.

Phosphorous Copper Shot Metal Additive Phosphorus copper shot is an effective way to remove oxygen from molten metal while improving the fluidity of metal for casting. The 10 mesh size shot is 15% phosphorus and dissolves quickly in copper, brass and bronze. Phosphorus copper shot is also effective for silicon modification in hypereutectic alloys containing copper and over 11.5% silicon.
